The IntelliSAW CAM™-5 is the central module of a medium voltage equipment monitoring system that provides continuous monitoring of live part temperature, partial discharge, ambient temperature and relative humidity. Such systems are needed to monitor the condition of critical power supply assets such as switchgear, medium voltage circuit breakers and busbar trunking.

The CAM™-5 unit can operate as a stand-alone monitoring device, or as a data acquisition and monitoring device with 9 IRM READERs with the ability to easily integrate into substation SCADA systems with standard communications.

A medium voltage switchgear cabinet is an example of an installation where the CAM™-5 is installed in the low voltage compartment while all other sensors are installed in the high voltage compartments.

Integration of several monitoring modules

Up to 9 Reader modules can be connected to the CAM™-5 module, allowing each module (CAM™-5 or Reader) to configure unique temperature, partial discharge and humidity display settings and alarm configurations. Data from all devices can be viewed in real time, saved to a local USB drive and transferred to the SCADA system using standard communication protocols. CAM™-5 modules can also be connected to a SCADA system, providing a scalable and fully integrated solution.
